The situation

What has happened

The regional training squadron is running an exercise on Thursday and has asked for field refuelling of vehicles from drum stock at a temporary refuelling point. Bec Halloran leads the two person crew and you are the second operator. In August a fuel hose coupling released under pressure during a test, which led to a batch of hoses being condemned and the hose test procedure being reviewed, so hose testing before departure is being watched closely. The task includes preparing the equipment, testing hoses, setting up the refuelling point with spill containment and fire fighting equipment, refuelling vehicles safely and recording every refuel and every check.

Your brief. Prepare, carry out and record the field refuelling task as a member of the crew, testing and recording hoses before departure, setting up and operating the refuelling point safely, logging every refuel and reporting any fault or incident on the spot.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Look for hoses tested and recorded before departure with any failure withdrawn, a complete equipment check, a refuelling log that accounts for every litre issued against stock, the spill reported the same day as an incident rather than ignored, and an end of task report that reconciles stock. Observe the student following crew instructions and stopping the task when the vehicle moved.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
