Terms you will meet in the documents, systems and scenarios.

Net explosive quantity

The total mass of explosive material in a building or load, used to set the limit displayed on each storehouse and the separation distances around it.

Compatibility group

A classification that determines which explosive natures can be stored or transported together without increasing the risk of one affecting another.

Lot

A quantity of ordnance manufactured together under the same conditions and tracked as one unit from receipt to issue or disposal.

Quarantine

The segregation of stock whose condition is in doubt so that it cannot be issued until it has been assessed and its disposition decided.

Range safety officer

The qualified person from the using unit who holds control of a range during a live activity and is responsible for its safe conduct.

Standing orders

The controlled document for each range or training area that sets what activities and natures are permitted, the safety arrangements and the inspection requirements.

Performance based contract

A contract that pays for outcomes measured against agreed performance measures, such as availability and response time, rather than for hours worked.

Availability

The percentage of contracted time during which a simulator or item of equipment was serviceable and able to be used for training.

Defence Industry Security Program

The program under which defence industry contractors are assessed and accredited to hold and protect Defence information and materiel.

Job safety analysis

A written breakdown of a task into steps with the hazards and controls for each step, completed and signed before high risk work starts.
