Range Activity Request Form

Purpose. Used by a using unit or contractor to request a range or training area for an activity.

1.When to use this form

Submit this form at least ten working days before the first day of the activity. One form covers one range or training area for one continuous activity period. Separate forms are required for separate ranges.

2.Range safety officer

The range safety officer named on the form must hold a current qualification for the range and activity type. The booking will not be confirmed until the qualification has been checked against the standing orders.

3.Weapons and natures

List every weapon system and every nature of ammunition or pyrotechnic that will be used. Natures not permitted on the requested range under standing orders will cause the request to be returned.

4.Environmental and fire conditions

Activities using tracer, pyrotechnics or demolitions are subject to the fire danger rating on the day. The requesting unit must nominate an alternative date in case the activity cannot proceed.

5.After submission

The range support coordinator will acknowledge the request within one working day and confirm or return it within two working days. Confirmation will include the pre-use inspection time and the handover arrangements.
